Overview
Transforming the Trent Valley is a community-focused environmental project led by Support Staffordshire, centred on improving and celebrating the Trent Headwaters. This booklet was created to communicate research findings and community feedback, capturing a wide range of voices and experiences connected to local green and blue spaces.

Design Focus
The primary aim was to produce an inclusive and accessible document that could be understood by as many people as possible. Working within the established Transforming the Trent Valley visual identity, I used its colour palette to create a cohesive and recognisable output while prioritising clarity, readability and engagement throughout.

Accessible Communication
A key consideration was designing for users with varying literacy levels. The layout combines concise text with supportive imagery and illustrations, allowing content to be understood visually as well as verbally. Information was broken down into manageable sections, with clear hierarchy and thoughtful pacing to reduce cognitive load and improve comprehension.

Accessibility Standards

The booklet was designed to meet WCAG AA accessibility standards, ensuring appropriate colour contrast, legible typography and clear structure. It was also built to be screen reader compatible, with a logical reading order and accessible formatting, supporting both digital and printed use.

Final Outcome
The final piece is a visually engaging and inclusive document that reflects the voices of the community it represents. By balancing design sensitivity with accessibility requirements, the booklet enables a broader audience to engage with the project’s findings and purpose.
